Gas hoses and fittings
Gas hoses and fittings – general information
Hoses for technical gases
Hoses for technical gases basically make two groups: low pressure hoses (acetylene, oxygen, butane/propane mix, natural gas, neutral gas) and hoses for high pressure gases – above 140 bar (e.g. for gas cylinder filling and emptying).
Gas hoses are used for a variety of applications such as: welding hoses, fuel hoses for gas (e.g. LPG), hoses for gas cylinder filling, refilling or emptying, loading/unloading gas hoses, medical gas hoses, food gas hoses.
When gas hoses are selected, the following gas properties must be considered: flammability, explosiveness, pressure and temperature, permeation of gases through the hose wall, electrostatic properties, gas contamination, flow rate and safety requirements (compliance with regulations and standards, adequate safety factor).
Gas hoses are often fitted with special fittings, intended for a particular gas, whereas complete hose assemblies, high pressure in particular, are secured against hose bursting.
For more gas hoses, see the following groups: hoses for water and air, chemical hoses, steel hoses, composite hoses, PTFE hoses, TYGON® tubing, in HIGH PRESSURE section – mainly in the group: thermoplastic hoses, and in PNEUMATICS section, in the group: pneumatic hoses.
